Bob's Shady
Rest Motel

Perception is everything. When I was small my brother and I went to summer day camp. We caught the bus in the parking lot shared by Mike's Submarines and Neba Roast Beef. Just across the lot yet existing in some far removed rarefied time warp, it's front shaded by large trees, was Bob's Shady Rest Motel. To my five year old eyes it looked inviting and exotic, like it belonged in Hawaii. When I asked my mom if we could stay there some day she laughed-and shuddered. I didn't know from down-at-heel back then, to me Bob's Shady Rest Motel was other worldly. I was sure that it was filled with all sorts of nifty, glamorous stuff, like flocked wallpaper, formica with gold flecks in it, and those mirrors with the gold marble texture painted on them. This bracelet is all about Bob's Shady Rest Motel as it existed in my imagination. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Made of vintage plastic, buffed celluloid, glass, fabric, composition, brass, and celluloid tight top, vegetable ivory, and horn buttons. There is even a little tiny hotel room painting of a deer made by me set into a vintage button. The buttons are sewn onto an elastic band with sturdy thread and lots of love!
