California Bungalow

Some places exist in my imagination long before I ever get to actually visit them. Such is the case with Los Angeles. I saw the movie "Chinatown" when I was a teen, then I read Mildred Pierce by James M. Cain, "L.A. Confidential" ( the movie and the book), Like A Hole In the Head by Jen Banbury, the films of David Lynch, the Easy Rawlins mysteries by Walter Mosley, and Love and Rockets comics by Los Bros Hernandez. All of these things fit together like pieces of a puzzle, constructing a picture of this unknown, mysterious place. I finally went out to visit my best friend there a few years ago. Wow! All I can say is that it was all of that and more. This bracelet is my tribute to the L.A. of the past and the present.

Made of vintage bakelite, fabric covered, plastic, vegetable ivory, bone and shell buttons sewn onto an elastic band with sturdy thread and a lot of love.
