Saint Dymphna
St. Dymphna is the patron saint of people who have mental illness and those who love them as well as survivors of incest. She is shown here in the midst of a storm, trying to keep her flame from going out. Some people interpret the wolf as a predator, and other people interpret it as a protector. St. Dymphna herself embodies a prayer for serenity, tenacity, and freedom from fear, anxiety and confusion.
This shrine was a collaborative effort between myself and my beloved husband Marcus Kwame Anderson, who designed and painted the wolf.
